Botox

What is a Botox Injection?

More than a decade ago, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved onabotulinumtoxinA (Botox-A) injection therapy for the treatment of chronic migraine headaches. This treatment may be recommended for patients who do not respond to two or three different types of migraine headache medications.

Botox injection is very effective and FDA approved for patients suffering from migraine with pain free periods lasting from 3 to 6 months. The procedure is very easy with minimal discomfort.

Some patients will improve to the point where injection therapy may be discontinued without relapse to chronic migraine.

Most patients tolerate this procedure very well, which only takes about 10-15 minutes.
Botox injections can also be considered for myofascial pain syndrome after the appropriate screening by your pain specialist.

You can discuss Botox injections for pain syndromes during your consultation with one of our pain specialists.
